At-Home Art Activities from the Bronx Museum

broken image

TheEducation Department at the Bronx Museum operates with a goal of facilitating
new ideas and promoting important art experiences that speak to contemporary
culture. The department became particularly important after the museum closed
its doors during the COVID-19 pandemic, developing the Bronx Museum at Home
series of programs. The Art Studio program, for example, draws inspiration from
a number of past exhibitions hosted by the museum. A series of instructional
videos have been developed around these exhibitions, providing both individuals
and families with related at-home art activities. Instructional presentations
include Joiri Minaya’s video on collages, inspired by the Sanford Biggers:
Codeswitch exhibition, and the Self-Portrait by Alicia Grullon, a course that
depicts different tools and styles that can be implemented during the creation
of a self-portrait. Other programs making up the Bronx Museum at Home series
include Meet the Artist and Sharing Stories. In addition to his work throughout
the city, Eric Blair-Joannou supports several community organizations,
including the Bronx Museum of the Arts. To learn more about these programs,
please visit the museum website at bronxmuseum.org.
